Senior Product Engineer

Summary
The Senior Product Engineer will primarily be responsible for providing engineering support for new products in accordance with established product development timeframes. Provides expertise and guidance to ensure Hinkley product meets our Company’s design, quality, and manufacturing standards and related industry standards and regulations. Help ensure product will reliably function and can be produced in accordance with product cost goals. Works with product design to ensure product functionality and aesthetics align with Company goals. Works cross functionally with stakeholders from engineering, product development, quality, customer care, and other departments to meet Company standards for product development and other related product and quality goals. Reports to the Director of Engineering.
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support UL/ETL Product Testing and Review – OJT Certification during the first year.
- Review new/modified light fixtures and ceiling fan product drawings for accuracy and potential construction issues.
- Creates and reviews new product installation instructions.
- Reviews data (can include data from CAD drawings, in ERP system, and catalog data) for new products to ensure accuracy.
- Work closely with the Quality team to ensure the product meets all safety, regulatory, performance, and quality requirements, and leverages internal product testing capabilities.
- Supports new product photography by building samples to evaluate for potential construction or quality concerns, communicates those concerns to the applicable stakeholders.
- Travels to Dallas and/or Highpoint lighting trade shows to support showroom set up.
- Determines repair/replacement parts for Bills of Materials (BOM).
- May participate in new product engineering trips to meet with overseas suppliers as needed.
- Creates SolidWorks models of the existing product for patent drawings.
- Supports Customer Care by providing technical support with any customer inquiries and product training.
- Leads new product trainings for customer care team to provide education on new product releases.
- Supports product quality efforts with the material, manufacturing process, and design knowledge.
- Reviews Pre-Production Survey (PPS) reports in a timely manner to ensure data accuracy.
Supervision Received
- Works under the guidance and direction of the Director of Engineering.
Education and Work Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Engineering-related technical field.
- Associates degree with additional related work experience may be considered.
- 10+ year’s experience with lighting or technical product or other similar consumer products.
- Minimum of 5 years experience within the Consumer Goods industry preferred
Necessary Specialized Training, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Above average computer skills including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Office 365.
- Ability to conceive countermeasure plans for technical challenges.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, self-starter.
- Ability to handle multiple projects within a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be detail oriented and meticulous.
- Works well with others, a team player. Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
- Integrity, sense of responsibility, and independent judgment.
- Able to communicate professionally and effectively, including with global partners (frequent emails to Asian vendors).
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

- Domestic travel up to 10%.
