Art Director

Position Description

The Art Director provides leadership, support and inspiration to Hinkley’s multi-functional design team with the goal of concepting and delivering great work that is on strategy, on time and within budget. This position manages the systems, processes and tools that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the design services team. This includes recommending and implementing new systems and processes when needed. The Art Director will collaborate with leadership team to understand business objectives and revenue goals to ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Reports to the Director of Brand & Creative.

This full-time role is based at Hinkley company headquarters in Avon Lake, OH. This position will require working on-site in our offices. Once person is fully trained the role may have flexibility for 1 day per week of remote work.

WHAT IS AT OUR CORE

  • 10+ years of experience in a strategic creative role.
  • BA or BFA required. Degree in Graphic Design or related area strongly preferred.
  • Well versed in the design process and all forms of design development (including but not limited to branding, advertising, digital, experience design and print production) as well as how each of these forms may affect the others.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign and Photoshop) on a Mac platform.
  • Exceptional design skills relating to graphic design, typography, color theory and photography
  • Solid knowledge of media outlets, marketing trends and avenues of consumer engagement
  • Expert understanding of CMYK process printing.
  • Strong passion for the arts, interior design/home décor, fashion and/or design trends
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple priorities while maintaining a positive, professional image of the organization.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Well organized and able to thrive in an environment that is fast-paced and rapidly changing.
  • Deep attention to detail with process-centric focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, able to interface with sales, product management and leadership with ease.
  • Excellent relationship building skills including the ability to influence working teams and key partners.
  • Strong visual and verbal presentation skills
  • Experience successfully managing outside vendors and agencies and developing RFQs.
  • Ability to lead, direct and mentor staff of graphic design professionals.
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate at all levels.
  • Responds effectively and appropriately to feedback
  • Maintains a positive, open and objective attitude.

Supervision Exercised: Provide leadership and direction to our graphic designers.

Supervision Received: Works under the general direction and guidance of Hinkley’s Director of Brand & Creative.
